Armillary
Alan wanted to create a remarkable surprise for his wife Denise on their 7th wedding anniversary. He approached us to craft a bespoke armillary for their garden, which we created from solid brass bar. To make it truly special, we engraved their names and anniversary date on the inside. The final piece boasted a stainless steel arrow with an intricately carved brass head and flights, a sturdy cast iron centre ball, and a one-of-a-kind base with a textured, hammered finish. We added a copper patina acid finish to the steel and iron components and placed the entire masterpiece on a circular slab of Dalbeattie granite. The grand reveal came when we discreetly installed the armillary on the remains of an old plum tree stump while Alan and Denise were away on a short anniversary getaway.
